Anthony Dell Cellars has a tasting room right on Third Street, in McMinnville. I went in today and met the “Dell” of Anthony and Dell, as well as the tasting room manager, Brandee, who helped me figure out that I like crisp, clean pinot noirs. Their tasting room is joined with a chocolate shop and has a cheese room, so whether you like sweet or whether you like savory, you can find something to go with the wine there.
Anthony Dell carries a wine I haven’t seen before, but that is just refreshing enough to appeal to my spring-ready palate. It’s called a “Baco Noir,” and only five places in Oregon currently produce the varietal. The first person to bring it over wouldn’t sell any vines or fruit, so it wasn’t until someone “found” more baco noir vines and planted them that they started being produced by various wineries in the area.
I, of course, got a bottle.
You can visit them Sun – Thurs from noon to 5 p.m. and Fri & Sat from noon to 6 p.m. at
