Wine tasting expeditions – Maysara

Maysara Winery is a family-owned winery. The most prominent evidence of this being the three Maysara sisters who are often found in the tasting room; we saw all three of them at one point throughout our tasting. The drive up to the tasting room was gorgeous. There were some wild turkeys, rolling hills and of course, vineyards.

Maysara’s wines were named by the mother of the winery family. Since the father of the family got to name the three daughters, the mom named the wines! So all the wines have Persian names, be it gods or goddesses, they are fun to say and make unique presents. I wasn’t a fan of their Three Degrees (although for $18 it wasn’t a bad Pinot Noir), but their Asha and Jamsheed are good. All of their wines have a lot of spice and pepper. My favorite was probably the 2006 Delara, which they discontinued in an effort to be more price-conscious.

Visit Maysara Monday to Saturday between noon and 4 p.m. Their tasting room is located at 15765 SW Muddy Valley Rd
Mcminnville, OR 97128.
