Wine Story Academy is an approved programme provider of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET®), widely considered as the gold standard in wine education. We employ highly trained wine experts and trained wine educators to conduct local WSET courses, which are highly regarded in top-tier wine regions.
The course levels and their associated costs are below.
The WSET® Level 1 Award in Wines
This qualification provides a basic introduction to the main styles of wines available to front-line staff involved in wine service or sales. The qualification aims to provide basic product knowledge and skills in wine storage and service, and offers invaluable preparation and training for those entering their first job in wine hospitality or retail.

To gain this qualification students must successfully pass a multiple-choice paper of 30 questions.

The WSET® Level 1 Award in Wine Service
This qualification builds on the knowledge and skills covered in Level 1 Award in Wines, and demonstrates how to apply these in a restaurant setting. This qualification is ideal for front line staff that requires basic wine service skills, and those who wish to start a career as a sommelier.

To gain this qualification students are assessed in a role-play exercise based on a restaurant wine service scenario. Candidates will only be awarded this qualification once they successfully pass the Level 1 Award in Wines or the Level 2 or 3 Award in Wines & Spirits.

The WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits
This qualification offers broad coverage of all product categories in the alcoholic beverage field; grape varieties, major wine producing countries, vineyard management, wine making, and the theory of tasting technique. Each session features a lineup of almost 50 wines varying in region and varietal that highlight the learning objectives.
There is no prerequisite for attending the Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits. Prior knowledge of wine basics is recommended.

This globally recognized wine industry qualification aims to equip individuals in supervisory positions with the authority and expertise to advise management and customers in beverage selection. The course examines wines and spirits from different regions through comprehensive tasting sessions.
This qualification is open to students who have successfully completed the Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits or can demonstrate intermediate knowledge through equivalent courses or wine industry experience.

To gain the qualification, students must complete an exam of 50 multiple choice questions, a short essay exam, and compose a blind tasting report of two wines.
