For my first visit to Indonesia, I stayed at The Westin Jakarta. For now, at least, it’s the tallest bldg in Jakarta and on soft opening (2 months at the time of my stay). The only thing that I noticed wasn’t working yet was the card elevator access.
The rooms are glorious, I enjoyed the bathtubs, the open spaces, and the view from their restaurant. Their breakfast serves great eggs benedict (hunt down the smoked salmon and ask the waiters for hollandaise sauce) and waffles. The location, amenities, and room is well worth the price. I love the TWG teas in the room and their friendly staff.
Heavenly Afternoon Tea at the Lobby Lounge
In addition to the lovely rooms, I enjoyed the afternoon tea set at their Lobby Lounge. The presentation was spectacular, details were beautiful (especially on the pastry platter), and the portions were generous.
- Breakfast staff don’t replace utensils that they remove with plates, unless you ask.
- Their faucets are too short for the size of their sinks.
- The hair dryer is annoying to use because the plug kept coming out, and you have to continue pressing a button for it to work.
The only thing I was really disappointed with was their indoor pool, which is small and not terribly impressive. Not only that, it was a nightmare getting an elevator that went back up to my room from the 50th floor. Someone got stuck inside because 2 of the 3 elevators weren’t working. It took 10 minutes to finally get on one. I’d say skip the pool and enjoy the bathtub in your room instead.
Overall it was a pleasant stay with good company.
